Perhaps landscapers will take small business loans and put their capital to work developing new services for urban green spaces and commercial properties in need of outdoor maintenance.
The Census Bureau reports the top five largest U.S. cities are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Phoenix.
But the fastest growing city in 2008 was New Orleans with the population approaching pre-Katrina levels. The city grew 8.2 percent in 2008 - faster than any other large U.S. city.
Just behind New Orleans was Round Rock, Texas as the second fastest-growing city at 8.16 percent.
"As the 2010 Census approaches, these population estimates provide a sense of the population trends throughout the decade," said Tom Mesenbourg, the Census Bureau's acting director.
These estimates could also give landscaping companies something to think about as they apply for small business loans and layout growth plans.
