Staffing companies have seen a jump in applications from job seekers with a variety of professional and technical backgrounds vying for open employment.
Nevada Appeal news service discussed the new job paradigm with one state hiring agency, Dynamic Hire.
"People with bachelor's degrees are taking light and industrial and manufacturing work," says Dynamic Hire regional manager Emily Ellison. She notes that applicants with specific backgrounds or advanced track records are now considering temporary work and even different career paths.
Staffing companies in New York are experiencing a similar influx of qualified applications.
NY1 news reports that some hiring firms like TemPositions are acting like an outsourced human resources group for businesses seeking screened, qualified workers but lack the in-house staff to perform the candidate search.
TemPositions CEO James Essey advises job seekers to think about how their skillset is transferrable to other fields that may be hiring.
